Whether you are completely remodeling your kitchen or are just looking to update some of your kitchen fixtures, faucets are a component not to be overlooked as sinks are integral to the kitchen. Faucets have continued to evolve over the years and there are now a myriad of styles, finishes, and features for you to choose from to match your dream aesthetic.
Popular Faucet Options
Pull Out or Pull Down: These types of spouts pull into the sink allowing you to easily clean dishes, wash produce, and it reaches all corners of the sink for easy cleaning. A counterweight helps the hose and spout to retract neatly. Some faucets have a button that allows you to adjust the water flow coming from the faucet.
Single-Handle: This type of faucet uses a single lever that moves from left to right, which triggers hot or cold water. When considering a single-handle faucet be sure to check the space around and behind the handle, as it may hit something behind it. If you have additional sink holes, you can purchase a separate spray nozzle or soap dispenser.
Two Handle: Also referred to as dual-handle, this option provides you with separate levels for hot water and cold water. Having a two handle faucet may allow slightly more precise temperature adjustments than the single handle faucet. This type of fixture requires separate connections to hot and cold water similar to what you might find in your bathroom.
Commercial Style: This style of faucet uses a longer flexible design and is more flexible from the base. Commercial faucets have become very popular over the years as they add a modern and stylish, yet industrial touch to your home kitchen.
Side Spray: Separate spray faucets use a separate handle that activates a spraying motion. This option provides you with the convenience when rinsing dishes or cleaning the sink. Your main tap will still have a regular water flow when you are not triggering the separate spray nozzle.
Motion Detection: This type of faucet is activated by a sensor which is typically placed near the base. When you place your hand over the sensor, water will come out. The sensors can also sense when you place a cup, or pot under the tap which activates water release as well, meanwhile. the handle offers familiar, manual operation, allowing you to adjust temperature and water flow.
Keep In Mind When Shopping For Kitchen Fixtures
If you are keeping your sink, then the faucet you purchase will need to match the number of mounting holes that are pre-drilled. Most sinks also come with mounting holes that are pre-drilled for faucets and other accessories such as side sprays or soap dispensers. Base plates allow you to cover extra holes if there may be any, but it is not a good idea to attempt drilling additional holes into an existing sink or countertop which is why we recommend matching your new faucet with the number of mounting holes in your sink.
